Lost badge or licence

Taxi driver If your taxi or private hire driver badge or licence is lost, stolen or damaged, you must inform us immediately.

If you don't have a badge or licence, it means you can't work.

If your badge or licence is lost in a public place or stolen you must report this to the Police, who will provide you with a 'Lost in Streets' or Crime Reference' number.

Private hire drivers

If you are a licensed private hire driver and you've lost your badge or licence then complete the private hire form and return it to us.

We'll then update your licences with your new badge number.

Your replacement badge will then be sent to you by Recorded Delivery post.

If you are a licensed taxi driver and you've lost your original or copy taxi driver's licence then you must complete the taxi driver form (PDF 45KB) and return this to us with two recent colour passport sized photographs. You must also send in your copy or original licence if you still have either of these so we can issue you with a new set of licences.

All completed forms should be marked for the attention of 'Private Hire Driver Licensing' or 'Taxi Driver Licensing' and sent to:

TFL - Taxi and Private Hire
Palestra
4th floor (Green zone)
197 Blackfriars Road
London SE1 8NJ

If you have any questions telephone us on 0845 602 7000.

Lost or stolen taxi driver licence identifiers

If you have lost or had your identifier stolen you must notify us immediately. While a replacement identifier is prepared you will be issued a letter to act as evidence that you are waiting for your replacement to be processed and delivered, and can therefore continue working.

You can contact us on 0845 602 7000 or email tph.enquiries@tfl.gov.uk.
